It has been such a terribly hard winter--man! Six out of 23 goats died this winter, I have been sick constantly, it was just too cold too long, and I'm so tired of it always being dark when I'm home during the week! I watch the day length avidly in the Farmer's Almanac, waiting for the time that I can actually see the goats to check on them when I get home from work.
However, there are many indicators that it is spring. The redwing blackbirds are back in Haw Creek, I smelled skunk wafting on the breeze, and goats are kicking up their heels running out to a greening pasture with all of the snow melted off of it. Can't come soon enough for my taste.
