I guess I have been lazy, or extra busy, because I didn't realize it had been so long since I updated my blog. The babies are all big tubs o' lard now, bouncing and beautiful and healthy. I took the 3 bucklings in to be neutered yesterday, and they handled it all very well. Justice is 40 pounds, Samson is 35, and Daniel is 28 pounds. Justice has a big, loud mouth and the other two are so meek and mild. When I was picking them up from the vet, one hollered really loud, and the vet tech said, "Oh, that must be Justice!" Everybody knows the wild one of the bunch. This morning, Justice was the only one acting sore, and he hollered his head off, but they all look like they are doing great! Ivy, my serious, responsible border collie, howled a little bit, seeming to be worried about the kid who was whining and complaining so much.
Now for the most amazing news! Daisy had a baby doe on Sunday at 1:30! I had no idea she was pregnant. She had a miscarriage in November and didn't look pregnant again at all, even after I sheared her. To have had a baby on June 5th, she would have had to been bred on January 5th, and I am positive the buck was separated from all of the does during that time. They did share a common fence, though, and I have heard stories about how does will back up to the fence to be impregnated. That tramp! I'm so glad she is a mommy now, because Daisy was always at the bottom of the pecking order and none of the others would play with her. Now she has her own baby to spoil and take care of and she looks much more contented in her eyes and demeanor. Praise God! I love having all of my goats so happy and healthy! Meeting at my house Saturday, June 25th from 2:00 to 6:00.
